When you get acne it can be really annoying especially when you get it around your lips. It can lead to some embarrassing moments and it makes you just want to try to pop them with a sharp needle. There are certain lotions that have a higher concentration level that Benzoyl. But tests have shown that lotions with a maximum of 2% can be more effective for use with acne.
The Benzoyl peroxide may cause your lips to feel dry so you could add a little moisturizer to them. But make sure that the moisturizer that you choose is suitable for acne care. A non-comedogenic moisturizer is good for combating any side effects of Benzoyl lotion.
Another option for applying to the affected area would be any lotions or creams that are sulfur based. These are a very popular course of treatment for acne.
You could hide some of the blemishes with a spot preparation treatment. Try to avoid using the lotions on any unaffected parts of your skin. Remember to clean every morning with tepid water and a mild cleanser.
Benzoyl peroxide and moisturizer can be applied directly after cleaning of the affected area. After just one week you should start to see an improvement.
If acne persists after a week or two it may be time to get the spots checked by a doctor. Perioral dermatitis is a possible symptom when spots appear on the lips, chin or nostril areas so it is very similar to acne. But this needs a different type of treatment from the acne treatment. An oral or topical medication is needed to get rid of perioral dermatitis.
